Jennie's New Year's Resolutions

The holidays are officially over until next year! We had a wonderful time with all our family and friends. Jennie really enjoyed seeing everyone, getting lots of new toys and clothes, and eating all the good food! She was such a joy, and was the life of the party every where she went.

Jennie has been babbling almost non-stop these days. Whether she is crawling around the floor (not quite walking yet), exploring her toy box, eating dinner, or cruising along in the stroller, she is babbling. It is so funny to see because her facial expressions change while she is doing it - like she is actually telling a story. Justin and I sometimes respond to her with random comments. On Saturday during our walk, the dialog went something like this:
Sitting in a basket of toys,
waiting for me to "give her a ride"

Jennie: bababagaga lalalala dadada
Mommy: Well Jennie, sometimes you will be wearing the same thing as your friends
Jennie: gaga blahblahbababababa
Daddy: Of course you looked better in it that she did.
Jennie: blablablablabla!!!!
Mommy: If you really feel that way, we'll buy you another outfit

On New Years day, while having breakfast at our friends house (we slept over after a small get together) Jennie was especially talkative. She really enjoyed talking to their dog, Leroy. I realized that she was trying to share her New Year's resolutions with us! So, below, you will find my translation of Jennie's babble. I am certain that the translation is accurate (hehe).

Jennie's New Year's Resolutions for 2011

1. I will continue to let Mommy brush my 4 teeth every night with that delicious berry flavored toothpaste.... I especially like to suck on the toothbrush.... I will also work on more teeth, even if it hurts a little.

2. I will give up my binky that I get at nap and night-night time... some day.... OK, maybe not quite yet....

3. I will let go and walk on my own. Right now, I am still a little scared to let go of Mommy and Daddy's hands... but I promise to try! I think I would like to skip walking and try running right away.

4. I will be a good Catholic. Once I drop my morning nap, I promise to attend mass every Sunday. Also, I will work hard to continue living a completely sinless life. Although I am not sure what mass is, or what sin is, I am sure this is what Mommy and Daddy would want me to say. Besides, apparently is it really really hard to be completely sin free. I am going good so far!

5. Bababa lalala la gaga dadadada DA mama ha.
(I really had no idea what this one was, so I figured I'd leave it untranslated so that Jennie wouldn't get mad that I got it wrong)

6. I will play nice and share my toys with all my friends, especially Owen. I like to play with him, and even though it is hard to share, I will work on it!

7. Last, but not least, I will learn some words besides "Dada," "Mama," "Hi," and "Na-nites." That way, by next year, Mommy won't have to mis-interpret all my resolutions!

Happy New Year!
